POMERANTZ, Christine Frances, M.D. passed away Aug. 17, 2013 after complications from a fractured hip. She graduated from the University of Bristol (U.K.) Medical School and did postgraduate work at Yale University School of Medicine. She was an enthusiastic sailor, having served in the Royal Navy in World War II and stood wheel watches aboard the R.M.S. Bayano on a voyage to Jamaica and then passed the British Board of Trade examination for Quartermaster. Moving with her then husband, Harris Pomerantz, to Tampa, Chris sailed at DIYC and in her late 60s, sailed aboard the tall ship Sir Malcolm Miller in the Hebrides, going up and over the rig in true British sailor fashion. After completion of Residency in Anesthesiology at Tampa General Hospital (TGH), she practiced as an anesthesiologist at TGH, University Community Hospital (now Florida Hospital) and Ed White Hospital in St. Petersburg. She was active in Tampa Community Theater and Carrollwood Players. Chris was a mainstay in the birth of Yogani Studios. She is survived by her son, David Pomerantz of Bristol, U.K.; daughter, Ann Okerlin, her son, Connor Okerlin, both of Tampa. Memorial services in Tampa and the U.K. announced later.
