PROPER, Christopher Michael "Mike" 66, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Hospice Mid Pinellas. In 1968, due to his intervention during an attempted grocery store robbery, as a concerned citizen, he was instrumental in the capture of one of the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted Fugitives", earning him personal recognition from FBI Director, J. Edgar Hoover, and The President of The United States, Lyndon B. Johnson. This event led him to his career in law enforcement that included the marine patrol, deputy sheriff, police chief, corrections officer and park ranger. He was avid fisherman, boater, and outdoorsman.
