DEUEL, Daniel (Dan), 63, tragically passed on March 9, 2014: leaving this life much too soon. He was born on April 21, 1950, the son of Captain Orrin Herbert Deuel and Beverly Ford (Mr. William Ford). He grad-uated from Edgewater High School in 1968 and, ever the adventurer, proudly served six years in the Navy as a technician aboard the nuclear submarine, USS Ulysses S. Grant. Following his enlistment, Dan pursued a twenty-five year career as Hardware Systems Engineer with the lift-off team of NASA's Space Shuttle Program at Cape Canaveral. The wonder of that program was, in part, the work of Dan who was affectionately titled "Dan the Man" for his great impact on the successful launch of each shuttle mission. Upon retirement, Dan settled in Central Florida where he enjoyed what he called the best years of his life with his wife, JoLynne. His passion for her matched his love of sailing, as many of his adventures came while at the helm. In our hearts we see him now as he "sails the Seven Seas of the Universe" sail on, sail on through endless time. As Van Morrison said, "Hark, now hear the sailors cry. Smell the sea, and feel the sky. Let your soul and spirit fly..." knowing that you will be greatly missed and eternally loved. In addition to his adoring wife and loving parents, Daniel is survived by his two children, Danielle Deuel-Royer and husband Steven and Orrin Michael Deuel, as well as step-daughter, Brooks Bicknell and husband Steven. He also leaves behind four grand-children, Marisa, Evan, Grant and step-grandchild, like-minded, Dante Allegro, who cherished him and will forever remember the lessons he taught them. He is also survived by his brothers, John and James Deuel, and sister, Amy. Daniel is predeceased by a brother, Marcus. He also had some GREAT sisters in law LeAnn Spritzer (John) and BeckySue Bianco. As well as one brother in law Richard Dirk Cosgrove (Mary). Dan was a member of Florida Fronteirsmen and VFW Post #9853. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Avon Park VFW, and to Park Elementary School's new safety program called Dan the Man's Helmet Safety Plan.

See me as I am, a Red-Tail Hawk in your heart,
Sailing on the waves in the oceans of your love.
Wherever there are wings soaring above,
See me as I am, a Red-Tail Hawk in your heart.
A sailor I am, sailing in the oceans abound,
See me as I am, a Red-Tail Hawk in your heart.
Fair-well my Brother

Dan was always willing to help all us at Kennedy Point Condos where he served as President of the Condo association for 10 years from the time he moved in. I fell in love with his kind heart and wonderful spirit. I know that he continues his adventures with his savior Jesus Christ where he will lives eternally. He will live on in our hearts forever. I can't believe you are gone from this Earth. Love you, Dan the Man. Judy and KPCA

Family of Dan Deuel,
Very sorry for your loss and please accept my heartfelt condolences.
I remember Dan from our High School days as fellow classmates at Edgewater High (class of 68) and as a very likeable guy. Imagine my surprise when I saw him the following year as a sailor at GMS Dam Neck, VA. Turns out we both served on submarines although not on the same ones. Dan is now on eternal patrol. Sailor rest your oar.
