Obituary

ALLEN, David Mallory 83, of Tampa passed away July 7, 2014. He was born in Iron Mountain, MI in 1931, and graduated Reed City High School class of 1949. David joined the Air Force in Jan. 1950 during the Korean War conflict achieving the rank of Staff Sargent while receiving a Good Conduct Medal and The National Defense Service Medal. After his discharge, David worked on the construction the Mackinac Bridge and also as a press machine operator in Michigan. David moved to Freeport, Long Island early 1960s where he found his true passion, driving a Taxi for Cannon Taxi in the winter and finishing (plastering) swimming pools on Long Island in the summer. He truly loved being on the street and driving that cab. David lived his life the way he wanted to with no rules. David loved his boys, grandchildren the smile and laughter of youth. He is survived by his sons, Michael Allen of Tampa and Patrick Allen of Killeen, TX; grandson, Brittan Bolden of Seattle WA; granddaughters, Brandy Allen of Seattle WA and Diane Allen of Killeen, TX; great-granddaughter, Teyana Allen of Killeen, TX; great-grandson, Deshawn Allen of Killeen, TX; nephew, Brandon Allen of Anchorage, Alaska; half brother, Delbert Allen of Buckeye, AZ; and niece, Della Ruth McPherson of Upper Michigan. Graveside service will take place with Military Honors at a later date, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
