MARTI, David W. 86, of Palm Harbor, passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at Mease Countryside Hospital. He was born April 14, 1927 in Aurora, IL, to Herbert and Sigrid Marti. He married Judy Powell June 11, 1955. David graduated from East Aurora High School in 1945 before serving in the Navy in WWII. Following service he graduated from Colorado State University and began working in forestry in Michigan and Oregon. He was employed by Edward Hines Lumber Co. Chicago. Later, he joined the Celotex Corporation in Chicago, moving with his family to Clearwater in 1965 to become associated with the Jim Walter Corporation in Tampa. Before retiring in 1997, he was director of advertising and sales manager of national accounts. He was a member of the Rotary Club for many years. In Clearwater he had been a member of Trinity Presbyterian and First Methodist Church as well as Pasadena Community Church in St. Petersburg. He was devoted to his family and many friends, spending many summer vacations with them in Door County, WI for over 50 years. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, travel, and watching the Chicago Cubs baseball games. David is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Brian of Gulfport; daughters, Brenda (Chuck) Klecka of Maryville, TN and Marilyn Marti of Palm Harbor; 3 grandchildren, Cody and Rachel Klecka and Sommer Forte; sister in-law, Laila Marti; and 3 nieces in the Chicago area. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 8 at 11 am at St, Mark Village, 2655 Nebraska Ave., Palm Harbor. For additional information contact Curlew Hills Memory Gardens, 727-789-2000.
