WRIGHT, Donald C. age 96, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Westminster Suncoast in St. Petersburg. Born in 1918 in Summit, NJ, Don moved to St. Petersburg with his family in 1933. He graduated from St. Petersburg High School then went on to the University of Florida where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. As a flight engineer for Pan American Airlines during WWII, he flew 125 missions for the Army Air Corps from Brazil to Africa carrying cargo and bringing wounded soldiers home. In 1946, he joined the family bu-siness and became President of Universal Fountain Brush Company, founded by his grandfather, Wilfred Wright in 1904. He retired in 1982. He was an active member of the Rotary Club and the First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Carol J. Wright; daughter, Susan W. Newsom; his son, Donald C. Wright Jr. and wife, Nancy J. Wright; granddaughter, Karen C. Cosgrove; great-grandson, Christopher J. Cosgrove; and nephews, Ed Turville and Larry Turville, sons of his late sister Janet Turville. Memorial Service will be held at Westminster Suncoast, 1095 Pinellas Point Drive S., on Saturday, March 15, at 1 pm.
