Obituary

SMELTZER, Donald Leroy 75, born on Nov. 17, 1937, passed away peacefully on Dec. 31, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Rigau Smeltzer; children, Kimberly Smeltzer, Kevin Smeltzer (Kristen), & Christopher Fenton (Linda); grandchildren Jonathan Smeltzer, McKenzie Johnson, Madison Johnson, Miranda Ricketts (Harley), Christa Fenton Karschnia (Paul), Arianna Fenton, Vanessa Fenton; six great-grand-children; brother-in-law, Roger Rigau (Kathy); nephews, and Michael Rigau, Ryan Rigau, & Michael Smeltzer; and niece, Ashley Rigau. Born in Daviess, IN. He was a past member of the Arabian Horse Association of Florida, American Horse Association, a graduate of the Institute of Biblical Studies, International Farrier School and the Beery School of Horsemanship. He was a judge for the Special Olympics, President and founder of the Bay Area Arabian Horse Club and a renowned Horse Trainer and Farrier who settled in Tampa, in 1974 as the trainer at Naibara Arabian Farm. He will be missed by both family and friends, but his knowledge will survive him through those he taught and whose lives he touched. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 6th, 5-7 pm with service on Monday, Jan. 7th, at 2 pm, both at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave, Tampa; burial to follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
