KERSEY, Douglas Earl 62, of Pinellas Park, passed away June 28, 2014, after a long, valiant fight with lymphoma. Born in Indianapolis, IN, Douglas moved to St. Petersburg in 1967, where he attended Northeast High School and graduated as an honor student in 1969. He attended University of Florida and studied Economics where he received a BS in 1973. He moved to St. Petersburg where he was employed in the X-ray department of St. Anthony's Hospital. During this time he attended Hillsborough Community College where he received a degree in nuclear medical technology in 1982. He was employed at Ft. Myers Hospital for a short time. In 1983, Douglas moved to Boulder, CO, where he helped run, manage, and co-own Slipstream Inc. He retired to Florida in 2002 where he took an active role in the lives of many family members. Having been an athlete in his younger years, Douglas was an avid knowledgeable sports enthusiast/historian. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn (Walker) Kersey. He is survived by his father, Donald Eugene Kersey, of Pinellas Park; his twin brother, Doyle L. Kersey, of Thornton, CO; a brother, Dusty Kersey of St. Petersburg; and a sister, Suzi Baxter, of St. Petersburg. He is also survived by two nieces and two nephews who reside in the in the Tampa Bay area and a grandniece. He is also survived by two grandnephews, one whose life he was especially involved in. A memorial service will be held at the Golden Gate Mobile Home Park Clubhouse at 8201 40th Street North, Pinellas Park, at 2 pm,, on Sunday, July 20.
