Obituary

HUDSON, Early J. 89, of Sun City Center, formerly of Franklin, NC passed away Feb. 18, 2014. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Burma where he was injured, finishing his service in India. He graduated from Emery and Henry College with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He worked for Martin-Marietta in Baltimore, MD and was later transferred to Winter Park, FL where he raised his family. At Martin-Marietta he worked on special defense projects. For a short time, he worked for NASA's space program before returning to Martin Marietta. He later retired to North Carolina with his beloved wife, Edna where he lived for 30 years, prior to returning to Florida. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Franklin. Early had a love of the outdoors, plants, birds and anything that grew. He enjoyed being a handyman. You could find him on any day, wandering his acres and hiking his hills. He was preceded in death by his seven siblings. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Edna; 4 daughters, Nancy Akers, Lynn (Anthony) Stylc, Valerie (Loren) Rees, and Mary Ann (Robert) Drapp; 2 granddaughters, Vanessa Gotz and Leslie Stylc; 2 great-granddaughters, Kathryn and Nathalie Gotz; & brother, Jack (Frances) Hudson. The family will receive friends 9-11 am Friday, Feb 21 at the funeral home. Funeral service 11 am Friday, Feb 21, at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center. Interment with Military Honors will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Arrangements by Sun City Center Funeral Home, 813-634-9900.
