CLARK, Edmund Dexter of St. Petersburg, died Friday April 5, 2013, under care at Edward White Hospital. Ed was born in Graham, KY and moved to Clewiston, FL in the 1920s. He earned his degree at the then all male University of Florida. In Feb. 1942 Ed enlisted in the Navy and served as Chief Meteorologist in the Panama Canal Zone. Recalled for service during the Korean War, Ed served as an Aerologist trainer in Lakehurst, New Jersey. Ed's professional life as a senior executive was spent in retail sales and management. His early work experience was with the U.S. Sugar Corp. followed by Montgomery Ward, Grand Union Corp (Grand Way Stores), Eckerd Drugs and a series of retail companies in Georgia, Maryland, upstate New York and Illinois. With his wife Florine, Ed retired to Lakewood Estates in the late 1970s and worked on perfecting his golf game, which resulted in three holes-in-one. The Clarks moved to Roseburg, OR for five years before returning to St. Petersburg where they lived at Westminster Shores. Ed was married to Florine for 62 years until her death in 2006. Daughter, Shawn Check, St. Petersburg; son, Mike Clark, Los Angeles; and granddaughters Carrie and Sara survive him. National Cremation Society, Clearwater. A celebration of Ed's life will be held at Westminster Shores Chapel, 125 56th Avenue South, St. Petersburg, Friday, April 12, at 2 pm. Reception follows.
