GRUNEWALD, Edward F. 83, of New Port Richey was called home by our Lord on July 14, 2014. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Ed and Margie Grunewald. He served as SSGT in the U.S. Air Force (1949-1952) as an aircraft mechanic. He then joined the NY Police Dept, and rose rapidly through the ranks until he was promoted to full Police Inspector. He founded the NYPD Boxing Program, competing with police departments worldwide. He also ran a boxing program for underprivileged youth in NYC through the NYPD. He retired to Florida where he loved to travel, play golf and spend time with family and friends. We will always remember his incredible love, devotion and loyalty to his loved ones. Anyone who knew Eddie will tell you what a great man he was. He was preceded in death by his wife, Terry, a great grandson, and a sister. He was a loving husband to Angie, a devoted father to Tom, Janice and Linda, and a caring stepfather to Sandy and Brad. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a sister. He will remain forever in our hearts.
