Herman A. WINEGEART

Obituary

WINEGEART, Herman A. 85, made the Christian move to be absent from this body, to be home with the Lord on July 7, 2014. Herman was born to the late Branch and Retta Winegeart in Glenmora, LA. He graduated from Glenmora High School in 1947 and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1948 and was honorably discharged. While stationed at MacDill AFB in Tampa, he met his wife Lorraine and they were married in 1953. Herman retired from Texaco Inc. in 1985 after 27 years of service. For the next 3 years he and his brother-in-law, Robert Johnson fished commercially. Afterwards he was known as "Herman the Plummer" for 12 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lorraine; daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Bill Townsend; two grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Daniel and Savannah; four sisters, Lin Winegeart, Betty Richmond, Veta Stokes and Kathy (Kenneth) Welch; brother, Gerald (Fran) Winegeart and nieces and nephews residing in Louisiana, as well as, extended family including brother-in-law, Robert Johnson, his buddy and fishing partner for 55 years; sister-in-law, Judy Johnson; three nephews, Tom Johnson and his children, Kayla and Alden; Terry (Debra) Johnson and his children, Meghan Johnson and Bobby (Tara) Johnson and his children, Tyler, Tanner and Teagan; Tim (Vivian) Johnson and his daughter, Tarin (Rick) Silkworth and her daughter, Riley. Herman enjoyed many wonderful times with his extended family at the beach and the lake home of Robert and Judy. He also had long time friends who spent many hours around his dinner table, Sara (the late Milton) Vann, Mary (the late Bill) Kelly, Pete and Betty Caruthers and Fred and Joyce Pollicina. Our special thanks to the Ruby Team of LifePath Hospice and Dr. Jerman Kankotia and his staff. Herman attended Oak Grove United Methodist Church where a memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2014 with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers gifts may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church or the in Herman's memory. "You will always be loved and never forgotten."
