Obituary

SHOCK, James Harrison "Jim", born June 1, 1935 in Springfield, OH, died Oct. 18, 2013 in Brandon, under Hospice care, he was 78 years old. Parents William and Thelma Shock (deceased). He served in the U.S. Navy 1955-1959, and was a Bronze Star recipient. The U.S. Postal service was his career. He was married to Betty Ann from 1959-1978. Jim had four sons, David, Douglas, Dennis (deceased), Daniel; one daugh-ter-in-law, Sara, who was married to Daniel; two older brothers, Nick and Leo Shock (both deceased). Jim moved his family to the Space Coast of Florida in 1969 and witnessed the birth of the Space Shuttle Program at Kennedy Space Center. He retired to Costa Rica in 1989. With his health failing, he returned to Brandon to live with his son Daniel, and beloved dog, Buster Brown in 2002. He was a devoted father and friend. His family looks forward to meeting him again in heaven. John 3:16-19. Visitation will be held on Oct. 27th, 10 am, with a memorial service following at 11 am, at Brandon Cremation and Funeral Services, at 621 North Parsons Ave., Brandon, FL 33510. A burial service will be held on Nov. 3rd, 10 am, at the Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 South US Hwy 1, Rock-ledge, FL 32955.
