BELK, Jonathan Donahue "Jon" (Retired Sergeant) A Tribute of Love for Jon of Tampa, who passed away Dec. 19, 2013, will be held Dec. 28th, 10:30 am, at The Center For Manifestation, 3201 E. Lake Ave., Apostle Mark T. Jones, pastor with Rev. Dr. James Gallon, presiding and Rev. Bortherland Murray, eulogist. Interment will be in Garden of Peace Cemetery, Plant City. Jon was born on Dec. 26, 1968 in Hudson, NY to Betty Jackson Carter and Richard L. Belk. Jon was a loving and supportive father to his children, stepson, Mario Erik Monroe (Olivia) and son, Jonathan Shaquille Belk ("Lil Daddy"). Jon devoted his life to public service, serving his country for four years in the United States Air Force (honorable discharge) and his community for 19 years as a Tampa Bay police officer. Jon retired as a Sergeant in August 2013. Jon was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, father, grandparents, and niece. He is survived by loving parents; sons; grandmother, Mrs. Gladys Merritt; brothers, William (Nicole) and Eric (Shevonda); sisters, Bettina, Serica, Richellon and Udanda; nieces and nephews; mother of his children, Karen Belk and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends and brothers, and devoted friends and fellow officers. Visitation at The Center For Manifestation Church Dec. 27th, 5-7:30 pm. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service. Contributions may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association (www.abta.org/donate) in memoriam of Jonathan Belk.
