Kenneth Patrick Ayers


AYERS, Kenneth Patrick was born in Tampa, September, 20, 1930 to James Wilson Ayers and Theodosia Smith Ayers and departed this life on June 6, 2012. He attended school in Tampa, graduating from Jefferson High School as an All-State basketball star. After serving in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict, he attended The University of Tampa while working for the Seaboard Railroad. In the mid-fifties he joined the Tampa Fire department rising through the ranks and serving as Fire Chief under Mayor Nick Nuccio. In 1955 he founded Ken Ayers Insurance Office which later became Bransford Insurance Associates. Retiring from the Fire Department he devoted his energies to Ayers Property Investments up until the time of his death. In addition to his wife, Mary Holiday Ayers. Ken is predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Smith Dudley, Wilson Holmes, James Swan, and Joseph Daniel Ayers; his sisters, Martha Niellie Watkins and Daisy Katherine Bransford. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Anita Holiday; nephews, James Clarence Bransford and Steven Russell Ayers; nieces, Martha Norman McGill, Elaine Norman Noble , Pauline Bransford Crumpton, Bebe Ayers Walsh and Ann Ayers Free; several great-nieces and nephews; as well as his very special friends, Ed Webster and Shirley Strum; and his care giver, Maria Guiterrez. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 3207 West Bearrs Ave, Tampa, FL 33618, 813-968-2231 from 1-2 pm. A Chapel Service will be held on Wednesday, June 13, at 2 pm, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, Carrollwood Chapel with Rev. Dixon Ayres officiating.
