Leslie C. SMITH Sr.


SMITH, Leslie C. Sr. age 81, of Tampa, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2013. Leslie was born in Marion, AL, to Dorman & Lucy Smith on June 23, 1931. Leslie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was with the New York City government as a Police Officer/Special Investigator for many years. He was a graduate earning a Bachelor's Degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He was a Methodist by Faith and was a member of AME Zion Church. He was predeceased by sisters, Mabel and Dina; brothers, Dorman Jr., James and Carl. Survivors include his loving wife, Berdie M. Smith; son, Leslie C. Smith Jr.; his daughter, Pamela Best; and his grandchildren, Marc, Leslie III, Sean, and Bryce; brothers, Dotris Smith, Billy Smith and John Smith; sisters, Ossie July and Doris Wooding; and many more friends, too numerous to mention, that knew and loved him dearly. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 22nd, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 3207 West Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618, (813)968-2231 from 9-10 am. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 22nd, 10 am, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home Carrollwood. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. www.blountcurrycarrollwood.com
