DZIONDZIAK, Alice Mary died July 7, 2013 at Arbor Oaks in St. Petersburg at age 96. Alice, a longtime Holiday resident, was born Nov. 25, 1916 to Mary and John Dziondziak in Milwaukee, WI. Alice graduated with a bachelor's degree from St. Louis University. She joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and rose to the rank of major. She served during the Korean and Vietnam wars, and in 1971 she earned the Army Commendation Medal. After retiring, she moved to Holiday and cared for her parents. Her mother lived until age 100. Alice's survivors include her brother, Tad Dziondziak (Terry) of Brookfield, WI; sisters, Adeline Schmisseur (Ray, deceased) of Sun City, AZ, and Marlene Romani (Angelo) of St. Petersburg; nieces, Jane Smith, Shirley Michals, Judy Sosnovske (Mike), Renee Bednar (David), Faye Schoen (Ken) and Tamara Quinn (Dennis); and nephews, Jon Dziondziak (Kristen), B.L. "Skip" Daniel and Scott Daniel (Nancy). A viewing will be held from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm Friday, July 12, at Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Home in Holiday. A Mass will be held at 1 pm at nearby St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where Alice was a longtime member. Interment with full military honors will follow at Sylvan Abbey in Clearwater. The family would like to thank the management and staff at Arbor Oaks for their good care of Alice.
