McKELVEY, Mary Janet Life began for Janet on July 6, 1927, in Gary, Indiana, as the daughter of Gladys and Roscoe Protsman, Hoosier school teachers. Life ended for her 86 years later on Nov. 7, 2013, at Bayonet Point Hospital. Janet filled those 86 years with proud accomplishments: a Bachelor's degree from Indiana University; a teaching license from Wayne State University; a career as a paralegal in a Michigan law firm. Most of all, however, she was proudest of her family: her husband of 65 years, Bob; and her children, Susan, Mary, Tom, Jack & Jim. Work and study were only part of her accomplishments. She was a patron of the arts, enjoying classical music, books, art and nature. She was a member of the Leelanau Conservancy, devoted to preserving the natural beauty of the county where she spent summers in northern Michigan. Janet's passing can only diminish the world she loved. She will miss it and it will miss her. Dobies FH-Hudson
