DAVISON, Olga-Rita 91, died Feb. 16, 2014 peacefully in Hospice care at Bayside Terrace, Pinellas Park. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Robert O. Davison. She came to St. Petersburg, from Orlando in 1958. She taught Spanish, her native language, at Boca Ciega High School where she was the head of the foreign language department. Prior to her retirement in 1988, she was awarded the Master Teacher Honor for three years, 1985-1987. During WWII, she did secret and confidential work for the Government in Washington D.C. with the Department of the Navy. She was 10 years a member of Nichi Bei Kai, the Japanese American Society, holding the office of president for two years. In 1984, she was made an honorary citizen of Japan. In 1941, she graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names in Tampa. A graduate of the University of Florida, she continued her education obtaining a Master Degree in Spanish Literature from the University of South Florida.After retiring, she was active in the Suncoast Quilting Circle for 25 years, as a founding member. She was also a member of the Pinellas County Weaver's Guild for 5 years. Survivors include her daughter, Christine Davison; and two granddaughters Sabrina and Haylie Glass. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Pinellas County Hospice in appreciation for the wonderful care they provided in her final days.
