Obituary

DRYSDALE, Richard Daniel "Dick", 85, of Tampa, passed Jan. 12, 2014, at the home of his daughter in the care of Sun-coast Hospice. Dick was born in West Palm Beach, graduated from Bolles Military Academy and attended the University of Florida. He was employed by Sun Oil Co. for 20 years, acquiring real estate for the company in the Midwest. His last transfer brought him back to his beloved Florida and he settled in St. Petersburg, whe-re he was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, Pasadena Country Club and Seminole Lake Country Club. After achieving sobriety on June 6, 1969, he moved to Ft. Lauderdale and lived on a sailboat and traveled the Caribbean for many years. Dick was involved in AA for 44 years throughout Florida. Ten years ago, he moved to Tampa where he devoted his time to AA service throughout the Greater Tampa Bay area. Dick is survived by daughters, Lee Drysdale Newman (George), Lynne Drysdale Patterson (Bruce); grandchildren, Tyler & Brooke Newman; brother, James (Ann); sister, Beth (Pat); nieces & nephews. He was a friend to all who knew him, loved life and gave everything he had to service. The Memorial service is Feb. 1st, at Christ the King Catholic Church at 2 pm.
