BUCKINGHAM, Richard W. "Dick", age 86, passed away peacefully on Oct. 26, 2013. Born in Grand Forks, ND, on July 4, 1927, he graduated with a PHD in Journalism from the University of North Dakota and served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-46. He married Auralee Trautman in 1963 and lived in St. Petersburg, relocating to Lutz in 1976. Dick retired as an Executive from GTE after over 35 years & was crowned Mr. Sun in 1978 by the Festival of States. His passion was sailing and he loved to travel the world with his family and yachting friends. He was the most active Lutz "Grandpa", spending his later years attending all of his grandkid's many activities! He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Auralee; daughters, Beth Busbee (Jeff), Donna Buckingham, Kristi Mackey & Ashley Hulme; his grandchildren, Kristopher Mackey (Tatiana), Jennifer and Brittany Mackey, Dillon and Leah Hulme; and his sisters, Shirley Hendrick and Patricia Ballou of Newfane, VT. He was predeceased by brother, Ralph Buckingham. A memorial will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, Nov. 16th, at the Lutz Civic Center, 98 1st Avenue NW.
