O'NEIL, Rita 64, of Clearwater, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, due to complications from cancer while being comforted by her son & husband. Rita was born in Indianapolis, IN, in 1948 to Fred and Marguerite Gilley. She graduated from Arlington High School in Indianapolis. She received an Associate's degree in nursing from Indiana University & Bachelor's degree in nursing from Loyola University of Chicago. She went on to earn a Master's degree in nursing administration from Illinois University. After moving to Pinellas County, Rita gave birth to her son Ryan in 1986 and later married Craig Rubright in 1997. Rita owned and ran several successful home health and hospice companies operating in Texas and Oklahoma before opening a tea cottage in Palm Harbor with her sister, Karin. After retiring in 2005, she spent time volunteering and enjoying several women's groups while also becoming involved in community events. Rita loved to travel with her husband, spending time in Italy, Germany and Budapest in recent years. She especially cherished visiting her son in New York City. Rita is survived by her loving family: including her son, Ryan; husband, Craig; and sister, Karin. She will always be remembered as a kind friend, great sister and loving and devoted wife and mother. A celebration of her life will be held at Central Christian Church in Clearwater on Dec. 14th at 1 pm. Flowers may be sent to Central Christian Church at 1200 S.
