McKENZIE, Robert E. "Bob" 86, of Bayonet Point, died on Apr. 19, 2012. Bob volunteered for the Army Air Corp a few days after the U.S. entry into WWII and was among the first U.S. troops deployed overseas serving in the CBI Theater. After the war, he married his high school sweetheart, Jean. After a brief time as a civilian, he reenlisted in the military retiring after 20+ years. He was in the first cohort to achieve the rank of CMSGT in the USAF, ending his career at SAC Hdqs, Offutt AFB, NE. He then worked for 23 years with LogE in Springfield, VA before retiring to Florida. He was a lifelong athlete and avid tennis enthusiast with the U.S. Tennis Assoc. He was a devoted husband of 59 years, loving and respected father of 4; grand-father of 8; and great-grandfather of 18. His life was a living example to his faith, his family and his love of country. He served his church and community throughout his life. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Bill) Densmore, Patricia (Jim) McDonough, Jean (Tim) McCleerey, son Robert C. (Robyn) McKenzie; his brother Arthur and his wife Cathy; his sister-in-law, Leah McKenzie; and brother-in-law Frank Ives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, his brother, Donald McKenzie, and his mother, Elizabeth McKenzie. A service will be held at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church at 7922 St. Rt. 52, Hudson, at 11 am on Wednesday, April. 25. He will be interred at the Florida National Cemetery.
