HILLERICH, Dr. Robert L. (1927-2013) Professor Emeritus, Bowling Green State University, passed away Nov. 14, 2013, at age 86. He was an elementary school teacher, principal, assistant superintendent and college professor. Internationally known in the field of the teaching of reading and writing, authoring over 200 articles in professional journals, 5 books, a nationally used kindergarten program, a 1-8 grade spelling/writing program, and two beginner dictionaries. A WWII Navy veteran, he retired as Captain, USNR and a Rear Commodore West in Florida USCG Aux. A resident of Palm Harbor and lately of Brooksville, he requested that his ashes be spread off Sand Key in the Gulf of Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; 5 children, Connie, Judy, Robert Jr., Patty, and Dan; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grand-children. He was a good man and will be missed.
