DAVIE, Robert M. "Bob" 81, of Spring Hill, passed away on Dec. 4, 2013. He was 1st Sgt. USA (Ret.), served 20 years active and 6 years in the reserves. Robert served in Korea with the 187 RCT and made a combat jump into Munsan-ni. He also received the purple heart for his wounds from the war. He also served during the Vietnam war with MAC V and was also awarded a bronze star for meritorious service. After his military career he worked and retired from the Nassau County Sheriff's Department New York. His free time was spent coaching LI Bronco Football where his team won a National Championship. He loved coaching Wantagh Little League. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn; daughters, Denice and Dawn; sons, Michael and Roberts Jr.; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer, Caitlin, Mark, Michael, Christopher, Lauren and Megan; great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Aubree and one on the way; faithful to the end dogs, Holly, Top and Mickey; and many nieces and nephews, loved ones and friends. Viewing Sunday, Dec. 8 from 2-4 pm with service to follow, 4450 U.S. 19. Graveside service Monday, Dec. 9, at 1 pm Florida National Cemetery with full military honors. Please visit 352-596-4991
