GERDING, Robert, Martin 68, of Lutz, passed away peacefully at home on March 4, 2013. He was born on June 6, 1944, D-Day, in Sandusky, OH, to his parents, Robert and Sally. He had one sibling, Rebecca Pallas of Utah. Robert attended The Ohio State University and graduated in 1967 with a degree in Soviet and East European Affairs. He received his commission in the United States Navy in 1968 in Newport, RI and served as an intelligence officer in the Philippines, Sangley Point. Robert married Brenda Bailey in Sandusky, OH, on Aug. 3, 1968. They had 2 children. He was a longtime resident of Tampa, 29 years. He was employed by AT&T and later by Shriners Hospitals. Robert was a member of Grace Lutheran Church Carrollwood. Prior to his diagnosis, Robert was a member of Shriners Highlander Bagpipe Corp. He enjoyed reading, music, traveling, friends and family. Robert will be remembered by his loving wife and their children, Colin, 37, his wife, Jaime and their children, Abby and Avery; and daughter, Meredith, 34, her husband, John Boggs, and their children, Josh and Caroline. He is also survived by his sister, Becky Pallas of Utah. The family thanks the Hospice Blue Team and Brenda Williams from the HomeCare Team for their loving care and support. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service at Grace Lutheran Church Carrollwood, 3714 W Linebaugh Ave., on Thursday, March 7, at 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals or CurePSP.
