BASS, Samuel Truman age 88, a man of strong faith and a great love for God, passed away Dec. 30, 2013. He was the oldest of 15 children from a New Mexico farm family. After serving in the Army in WWII, he met and married Jane Harris, his first wife of 60 years with whom he had three children. He received a Masters Degree in Chemistry from George Peabody College (Vanderbilt) and a Ph.D. in Botany and Plant Pathology from Michigan State University. He worked at MSU, Lansing Community College and Howell High School. Sam was a long-time member of the Holmes Road Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon for many years. He was a devoted Bible scholar with a passion for personal ministries. In 2008, Sam married Patti McClelland, his devoted wife. The last five years, he and Patti have travelled extensively visiting friends and family. They loved playing golf and cards together, however, when it came to college football Sam was a die-hard Spartan fan and Patti bled maize and blue.
