ASSIMACK, Themistocles "Tommy" died Jan. 12, 2014, born on Dec. 17, 1934 in Tampa, and lived in Tarpon Springs all of his life. He attended Tarpon Springs High School and graduated from Tarpon High in 1952. He attended Florida State (Bachelor's Degree) and the University of Florida (Master's Degree). He served in the U.S. Army. Tommy was Tarpon Springs High School's assistant principal and remained in that position until he suffered a major stroke in 1990. He served as treasurer of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, treasurer and president of AHEPA, and served on the Pinellas County Parks and Recreation Board. Preceded in death by son, Peter T. Assimack. Survived by his wife, Kathleen "Nena" Assimack; son, Basil T. Assimack (Niki); daughter, Anna Smith (Bob); grandchildren, Kalotina "Kaila" Assimack, Basil T. Austin Assimack, Peter Smith, Robert Smith Jr. Visitation Tuesday, Jan. 14 at Dobies FH-Tarpon Chapel from 6-8 pm. Services Wednesday 11 am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Suncoast Hospice or AHEPA.
