MELCHIORRE, Thomas 89, of Tampa passed away Jan. 6, 2014. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years, Gloria. Survivors include his loving wife of 13 years, Judy Melchiorre; nephew, Albert Manze (Toni) of Georgia; stepson, Ronald Whitney (Jenilynn) of Tampa; stepdaughter, Kimberly Briscoe (Kenneth) of Tarpon Springs; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Having served in the Army, Thomas was a veteran of WWII. Originally from Pennsylvania, Thomas was first hired as a part-time police officer in 1957, for Norristown and was promoted to full-time in 1960. Chief Melchiorre was appointed Chief of Police in 1974 where he remained until 1980. Following retirement, Thomas moved to Florida in 1982. He was active with the Egypt Shriners of Tampa for several years. Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, Jan. 9, at the Blount and Curry, Oldsmar/West Hillsborough Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday Jan. 10 at the funeral home followed by interment at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater. Online condolences can be made at
