Thomas "Jeff" SIMMONS


SIMMONS, Thomas "Jeff" 78, of Tampa, passed away June 7, 2013. Jeff served with the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. He was also a Golden Gloves Boxer who trained with Cassius Clay. He had extremely fast fists with 32 wins and one loss due to a decision in Madison Square Garden. He was a great cook of barbecue ribs and was known for "Jeff's Ribs". Jeff was preceded in death by his mom, Mamie; dad, Thomas Sr.; three sisters, Ethel Middleton, Bernice Simmons and Martha Simmons; and his two beloved dogs, Troy and Travis. He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa; four children, Tina (Leland) Offvitt, Anthony Simmons, Ann Marie (Dennis) Crawford, Joanne (Tom) Farrell; two granddaughters, Hannah and Lia Farrell; sisters, Isabel 'Beverly" Maloney, Sandra Qualls; also many beloved nieces, nephews, other family members, friends. A funeral service will take place at 6 pm on Sunday, at Florida Mortuary. The family will receive friends three hours prior to service. Inurnment will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery on Tuesday, at 1:30 pm with military honors. Thomas was loved and will forever be missed.
