CRABTREE, Walter Percival III "Bud" age 87, Walter "Bud" Percival Crabtree III passed July 9, 2014. Bud was the son of Walter P. Crabtree Jr. and Helen Norton Crabtree and was raised in West Hartford, CT. He was a third generation architect who designed 35 schools and public buildings around the state of Connecicutt. Bud served as a Navy Seabee during World War II. He graduated from Brown University (Phi Kappa Psi) and attended Yale University Architectural School. He served in West Hartford as Selectman, Justice of the Peace, and Election Poll Moderator. When he retired, he volunteered in his wife Jane's elementary school classroom until she retired. They loved to travel, and Bud was an avid golfer, shooting his age several times. He loved to make clocks and antique furniture reproductions to share with family and friends. He was a devoted member of the Pass-a-Grille Beach Community Church since 1971, serving as Deacon, Trustee, and tutor. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jane. Bud is survived by three children and their spouses, Candace Shepard (Nick Angelo) and Donald Shepard (Lisa Lindgren) of Colorado, Andrew Shepard (Diana) of Florida; seven grandchildren, Lauren Shepard Wilkinson (Zac), Matthew Shepard (Christine), Stephen Swenson (Kari), Georgia Angelo (Josh Talbot), Charlie Angelo, Cavin Shepard, Colman Shepard; two great-grandsons, August Talbot and Elijah Swenson; and many nieces and nephews. Walter loved most his role as "Grandpa Bud." He so loved his grandchildren that he paid for their college education. He will be missed by all who were touched by his smile, love of life, and generous spirit. A service will be held on July 26, 11 am, at Pass-A-Grille Beach Community Church, St. Pete Beach. Donations in Bud's memory can be made to the Pass-A-Grille Beach Community Church Youth Ministry Foundation.
