BLOOD, Willard Clarkson Jr. age 93, of Tam-pa, passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013. He was born Sept. 17, 1920, son of Willard C. Blood Sr. and Ellen C. Blood (both deceased) in Ocala. As a boy he spent time in both Tampa and Ocala, attending Mitchell Ele-mentary in Tampa before graduating from Ocala High School. He is a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Coast Guard. He attended the Coast Guard Academy in New Lond-on, CT and spent his time in service patrolling the East coast from the Florida Keys to Newfoundland. He was honor-ably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Lieutenant JG. After service, he and his father ran their own residential con-struction business building homes in what is now known as Sunset Park in South Tam-pa. He later joined the Federal Housing Administration as a building inspector retiring in 1979. He was an avid out-doorsman who enjoyed hunt-ing, camping, boating and fishing. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy; their children Ann Jessup (Dean) of Clearwater, Willard "Buddy" (Dale) of Tampa; grandchildren Ryan of Sara-sota and Willard "Chad" of Tampa; caring aides from Bayada Jelsy, Wendy, Clarissa, Vanessa, Jeannie and Maria. A celebration of his life will be at 4 pm Thursday, Nov. 21, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave. Tampa.
