HENDRICKS, William Irwin was born on Sept. 24, 1924 in Florence, NJ, and went to be with the Lord on Oct. 7, 2012. Irwin served in the Navy during WWII. After the war, Irwin attended college, married his high school sweetheart, and then opened Hendricks-Merritt Machine Co in Red Bank, NJ with his father. He also served as a volunteer fireman for many years and as Fire Chief for Middletown Township in 1973. Other volunteer service in Middletown included being Chairman of the Zoning Board and a member of the Lion's Club. Irwin was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ruth; and his brother, Dick. Irwin is survived by his wife, Jane, of 67 years; his brother, Edward; his son, Bill; and his daughters, Pam Hendricks and Kim Ford, as well as seven grandchildren: Wendy, Beau, Shane, Hayley, Drew, Katie, and Jenna. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Baptist Children's Home - Lakeland, P.O. Box 8190 Lakeland, FL 33801. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at Curlew Hills Funeral Home from 2-3 pm, with a service from 3-4 pm.
