BAYNARD, William T. Sr. a St. Petersburg native, died on March 26, 2014 at age 93. He was a graduate of St. Petersburg High School and the University of Florida where he was a member of the ATO Fraternity. He joined the Navy during World War II, serving on a PT boat, patrolling the English Channel and participating in the invasion of Normandy. He retired after 20 years in the Naval Reserves, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He helped establish Baynard Brothers Insurance and Real Estate Agency, served as president of the St. Petersburg Independent Insurance Agents, and became a life-time member (MAI) of the Appraisal Institute. He filed for the original charter of and became president of Franklin Federal Savings & Loan Association. He was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church where he taught Sunday school and served as deacon. He was also a member of the Squires Club, the Suncoasters, St. Pete Yacht Club, and as an avid golfer, a long-time member of Lakewood Country Club. William was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is predeceased by his first wife of 54 years, Connie Wing Baynard. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Wallace Baynard; his three children, William T. Baynard, Jr., J.Thomas Baynard (Sally), Anne Freese (Randy); and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Christian, and sisters-in-law, Alyce Lightsey and Shirley Roche (Jim). A memorial service is to be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 701 Beach Drive NE on Wednesday, April 2 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of St. Petersburg. Anderson McQueen 727-822-2059
