Bruce Alden Barnhart Jr. Obituary
Barnhart, Bruce Alden Jr. 54 of St. Louis, passed Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born in Ann Arbor, MI to Marcia Bulliss Barnhart and Bruce Alden Barnhart Sr. Bruce grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and graduated from East Grand Rapids High School in 1978 earning varsity letters in cross country, baseball, and basketball. He received a BA in Communications and an MS in Journalism both from Northwestern University. Bruce worked as the business editor and reporter for KSDK Channel 5 from 1987-2004, and gave on-air financial advice on KMOX. He also had a long career as a financial advisor and broker and was employed at Oppenheimer. Bruce cared deeply about his clients and was passionate about helping them reach their personal financial goals. Bruce had a life- long love for all University of Michigan sports, Tiger and Cardinal baseball, and any and every team his daughters played for. He found peace and tranquility in the Great Lakes and rolling hills of Northern Michigan. Bruce is survived by his parents Marcia Bulliss Barnhart, Bruce Barnhart Sr. and his wife Nancy Barnhart, siblings Julie Brubaker, her husband Doug Brubaker and Daniel Barnhart, daughters Mullally Healey, her husband Daniel Healey, Callaway Lawlor, her husband John Lawlor, and Crosby Barnhart, his fiance Megan Cox, and his grandson James Healey. Bruce's greatest pride and joy was his family. His happiest memories were shared with those he loved. Services: Friends of Bruce and his family are welcome to celebrate his life at BOPP Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood, on Tuesday March 4, 2014. Visitation from 10:00AM - 1:00 PM. Service at 1:00 pm. A celebration of life memorial will be held in Glen Arbor, Michigan this summer with Bruce's family and close friends. His ashes will be dispersed over Lake Michigan and Glen Lake. Memorial donations preferred to the the team Besties for Bruce at relayforlife.org.
