Ell R. Linton Obituary
Linton, Ell R. 82, of Collinsville, IL, born June 3, 1930 in Gillespie, IL, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Mr. Linton was a graduate of St. Louis University School of Commerce & Finance, majoring in accounting, obtaining a BSC, and a veteran of the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Tanner. He began his civilian career as Secretary-Treasurer/VP for Ee-Jay Motor Transports, Inc. He was the former President of Broadway Ford Truck Sales, Inc., a company that he joined as Secretary-Treasurer in 1966, became President and General Manager in 1983, and was currently serving as Chief Analytical Officer. Ell served on the Ford Truck Dealer Council. He was one of the finalists for the 2004 American Truck Dealers/Heavy Duty Trucking Truck Dealer of the Year Award. Mr. Linton served for 21 years in many capacities with the Rotary Club in St. Louis, supported Lutheran Children and Family Services, and spent many years in leadership positions with the Black Knights Drum and Bugle Corp. He was a member and served as an Elder at the First United Presbyterian Church in Belleville, Illinois He was preceded in death by his parents; George E. and Helen, nee Horne, Linton, a brother, Robert L. Fuzz Linton and a sister, Morene Bishop. Surviving is his wife, Lois Linton, nee Olvitt-Heuer; his children, Ken A. (Pat) Linton of Collinsville, IL, Curt W. (Connie) Linton of Collinsville, IL, Craig A. (Sherry) Linton of White Settlement, TX, Col. Steven A. (Bonnie) Heuer USAF Ret., of Swansea, Illinois, and Linda Sue (Paula Niederecker) Heuer of Waterloo, IL; his grandchildren, Jay (Amanda) Linton, Stuart Linton, Tiffany Linton, Matthew (Jessica Byrd) Linton, Elizabeth Linton, Ashley Linton, Alex (Jamie) Heuer and Patrick Heuer; seven greatgrandchildren; a sister, Debra DeBaere of Kenosha, WI, his former wife, Marilyn Linton, nee Lorenz, of Belleville, IL; two brothers-in-law, Bob Bishop of Troy, IL and Louis F. (Mary) Olvitt of Sparta, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Memorials are appreciated to the First United Presbyterian Church in Collinsville, IL or the Kilo Diabetes and Vascular Research Foundation, St. Louis, MO.
