Barteau, Howard L. Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church and passed away peacefully the evening of July 4, 2013 surrounded by his family. Howard was the beloved husband for the past 61 years to Marilyn M. Barteau (nee Sladek); a wonderful dad to Jim, Rick, Tammy, and Laura; a kind fatherin-law to Alice (nee Hill), Trudi (nee Kovac), Rick Lueders, and Quentin Stark; a much loved and respected Grandpa to Jamie (Ally), the late Aimee Barteau, Megan (Paul), Bridgette (Elio), Brittany (Patrick), Ashley (Skyler), Eric (Amber), Daniel (Sara), Tim (Meghan), Steven (Liz), Kiley, Ben and Andy. He was a fun-loving and proud Great pa-pa to Patrick, Holli, Margaret Mae, Blake, Drew, Lily Grace, Silas, Landon, Riley and Liam. A dear brother-in-law, cousin, nephew, uncle, great uncle and friend. Howard was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion and pastpresident of the West Overland Lions Club. He was a former volunteer fireman for the Pattonville F. D. and served as a Director for the West Overland F. D. Howard was the 1950 Class President at Pattonville High School the place where he met his high school sweetheart, Marilyn. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 for over 60 years before retiring, and then went on to pursue a second career as a co-owner with Marilyn of the Lakeside Deli in Bridgeton, Missouri, home of the flying French bread. Services: The family is being served by The BAUE Funeral and Memorial Center, 3950 West Clay Street, St. Charles, MO where visitation will be held Sunday, July 7, 2013 3:00-8:00 PM. Funeral Mass 10:00 AM, Monday, July 8, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 324 South Third Street, St. Charles, MO. Interment St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
