John Mullanphy Harney Obituary
Harney, John Mullanphy age 90, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 of complications from Alzheimer's disease. Beloved son of the late Frank LaMotte and Charlotte Warfield Harney and great-grandson of General William Selby Harney. Mr. Harney graduated from St. Louis Country Day School and Princeton University. He later attended Harvard University's fine arts program at the Fogg Museum. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Harney took a position in his family's firm The Warfield Shop, founded by his grandmother, Florence M. Warfield, in 1912. He later became the owner of the business, Warfield's Inc., a distinguished antique and decorating firm well-known throughout the St. Louis area. John was an avid reader, a world traveler, and had a great interest in and a broad knowledge of all the Arts and cultural areas. He will be remembered by his many friends for his exceptionally good company, interesting conversation, and pleasant times together. Services: Memorial service 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 7, at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., in Kirkwood. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the . www.boppchapel.com
