Paul H. Chavaux Obituary
Chavaux, Paul H. 88, Lake St. Louis, MO, April 18, 2014. Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church. Beloved Husband of Jean Ann Chavaux nee Sandbrink; loving father of Paul, Therese (Keith) Chavaux-Turnbull, PhD; and Bradley (Dawn). He was the beloved grandfather of Alana, Iain, Demitrianna, Serena, Maxwell, Braetyn, and Vyncent. He was the great-grandfather of Dwayne. He was the son of the late Harvey and Leola Chavaux nee Davis. Mr. Chavaux lived in Perryville as a child. He moved to St. Louis and graduated at the age of 16 from Beaumont High School in 1941. He entered the army air corps as a bombardier in 1943 and served in that capacity to 1945. He achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel while serving for 30 years as a member of the Judge Advocate General. He attended and graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Law in 1948 with a JD. He married Jean and they were married for 60 years. He practiced law for many years starting in 1951 with Luke and Cunliff. He served as police judge in Lake St. Louis for more than ten years. He was an alderman first in Brentwood, then in Lake St. Louis. He returned to school to study for the Diaconate and graduated as a Permanent Deacon in 1992. He retired as an active deacon in 2004. He founded the St. Vincent DePaul Conference at St. Patrick's Parish in Wentzville with his wife Jean. He was a member of Brebeuf Conference of the Manresan Society. He was a retreatant at the Jesuit White House Retreat, having made 52 silent retreats. He was a long time member of Mid Town Kiwanis Club, and also served on the Diaconate Personnel Board. Mr. Chavaux was an avid golfer and greatly enjoyed all outdoor activities. He was a world traveler after his retirement and visited many exciting places. The Chavaux family would like to extend a special thank you to all those who supported the Chavaux family through Paul's illness. Services: A funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 22, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Wentzville, MO. Interment will be in Our Lady Cemetery, Lake St. Louis. The family will receive friends at St. Patrick's Church, in Wentzville, from 3:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 21. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Parish for the new chapel, in care of Pitman Funeral Home, 1545 Wentzville Parkway, Wentzville, MO 63385.
