Raymond A. Widdows Obituary
Widdows, Raymond A. 93, asleep in Jesus, was born January 21, 1920 in Iuka, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Oak Hill Nursing Home, Waterloo, Illinois. Mr. Widdows was a retired printer. He retired from The St. Louis Post Dispatch in December of 1980. He was a proud United States Navy Veteran serving in WW II. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Salem, Illinois. American Legion Post 128, Salem, Illinois and the Communication Workers of America. Mr. Widdows was preceded in death by his parents, William Calvin and Marie, nee Behrndt, Widdows; Siblings, John Widdows, Marvin Widdows, Leona Eakin and Goldie Powless. Surviving are his loving wife of 73 years, Violette Marvella, (nee Powell), Widdows; children, Larry (Beverly) Widdows, Gary (Geri) Widdows, Jeffrey Widdows, Phyllis (Warren) Fick and Pamela (Edward) Janson; 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; also, survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives, family and friends. Memorials in Mr. Widdows memory, may be made to the Salem Lutheran Church, Salem, Illinois. Service: Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Salem Lutheran Church, with Pastor Doug Meyer officiating. Interment will follow services at Paradise Cemetery, Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois
