Richard R. Repp Obituary
Repp, Richard R. 89, of Berwick, Maine, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on July 23, 2014. Born July 6, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri, son of the late Walter and Bertha (Schowalter) Repp. Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and served in a tank destroyer unit, landing on Normandy Beach on D-Day plus 6. He fought his way through France and was Posted in Wiltz, Luxembourg. It was there that the Battle of the Bulge commenced. He was captured by the Germans in Wiltz and started the long march back to the POW camp where he was held captive until V-E Day. His service honors include the Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman's Badge. After leaving the service he worked at Manufacturer's Bank & Trust in St. Louis where he met his first wife, Marion. They moved to Florida in 1956 where he worked for Square Deal Machinery, then was hired by Eastern Air Lines. He loved to play softball and was an accomplished pitcher on the Eastern Air Lines slow-pitch team. He also enjoyed reading and travelling. He loved his family and was so proud of his children's accomplishments. He was a member of the American Legion Post 79 in Berwick. In January 1989, he married Emily L. Rouillard, and they lived in Boca Raton, Florida, finally settling in Berwick, Maine. He was preceded in death by his brother Walter, and his step son Jon Andrew Rouillard. Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Emily; daughter Susan Repp of Pembroke Pines Florida; son Father Christopher J. Repp, of Hollywood Florida; step daughter Constance Tebbetts and her husband Robert Tebbetts of Eliot Maine; seven grandchildren Cristina Noelle Repp, her husband Robert Espinoza, Victoria Lourdes Repp, Anna Sophia Repp, Ryan Tebbetts, Jason Tebbetts, Jon Pierre Rouillard and Alexandra Rose Rouillard; and his brother in law, Thomas Lever and his wife Theresa of Montpelier, VT. Richard was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. Services: Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 30 from 10 am to 12 noon at Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, Berwick, ME where an American Legion service will be held at 11:30 am. A funeral will be celebrated at 1 pm at Trinity Anglican Church, 180 Rochester Hill Road, Rochester, NH co-celebrated with Richard's son, Father Christopher Repp and Bishop Owen Williams and followed with military honors. Interment will follow at a later date at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale, ME. Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 79, P. O.
