Cozean, Ronald (Ron) James age 74, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. Ron was born on September 3, 1939 to James and Beatrice Cozean in St. Louis, Missouri. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Connecticut and a Master of Science in Community Mental Health Nursing at the University of Missouri. Ron was proud to be a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Theta Tau. Prior to obtaining his degrees Ron served as an electrician with the Marines and Navy. After his schooling he returned to the military as an Army Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist and was a dedicated, educator, consultant, clinician and leader. Upon his military retirement he worked for the VA as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and later established a successful private practice. He was a Clinical member of the American Group Psychotherapy Association and was a Certified Mental Health Counselor. Ron believed in giving more than he took and spent many hours volunteering by serving with the Optomist, the Lions and the Rotary Clubs. He was especially proud to be a member of Charles W. Anderson Masonic Lodge No. 1413, the Alzafar Shrine Hospital Corps and the American Legion Post #667. Ron loved the outdoors and he was an avid runner, hiker, biker and kayaker. He could repair and build anything he put his mind to. He is preceded in death by his father, James T. Cozean and sister, Renita Johnson. Ronald is survived by his wife of 31 years, Karen Cozean; son, Ronald J. Cozean, Jr. and wife, Laura; daughter, Jeanette Mazzotta and husband Greg; son, Frank Cozean and wife Gina; mother, Beatrice Teel Cozean Daniel; sister, Belinda Camarillo and husband, Pete; brother-in-law, Jerry Johnson and nine grandchildren William, Erin, Bryan, Robbie, Alex, Anthony, Max, Ben and Jack. Services: MEMORIAL SERVICE FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2013, 10:00 A.M., PORTER LORING NORTHCHAPEL, 2102 NORTH LOOP 1604 EAST, Rev. Janet Rankin officiating.
