He is survived by his wife, Deborah Peterson; mother, Dr. Muriel Steinberg of Omaha; brother, Dr. James Steinberg of Atlanta; children Danny, Becca and Deborah Steinberg; and stepchildren, Ben, Nick and Elizabeth Peterson. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Maurice Steinberg, also of Omaha. Tom was a cell biology researcher and infectious diseases physician on the faculty of the Washington University School of Medicine for 23 years. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his M.D. from New York University School of Medicine. Tom was many wonderful things but he was not one for ritual or ceremony. Per his wishes, he is being cremated and there will not be a funeral.
