BALDING, Clara Marie
Marie Balding was born on January 3, 1924 in Jefferson, Iowa. She was a graduate of the Cadet Nurse Program at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul in 1948 as a Registered Nurse. She worked at Wilder Dispensary in St. Paul from 1948-1952. She married Bill Balding on September 20, 1952 and moved to Sacramento. Marie worked as a RN a couple of years, and then had four children between 1954 and 1964, also living in Yuba City for four years. Marie was a full time mother and homemaker, relief nurse a few years, generous with her time and service at church, and in local organizations. She passed away March 27 surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her husband William K. Balding in 1992 and her sister Rosalynd Green in 2008. She is survived by four children: daughter Nancy Clegg and husband J.F. of Delhi, CA; son John Balding and wife Kathleen of Holly Springs, North Carolina; son Pete Balding and wife Tarja (Pele) of Helsinki, Finland; and daughter Carol Stanhope and husband Barry of Sacramento; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Northminster Presbyterian Church, Sacramento on Sunday, April 14 at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church memorial fund.
