DUVAL, Claude Guy,
CW3-USA Ret.
Born June 20, 1929 to the parents of Ovide and Rosilia (nee Gendron) Duval in Manchester, NH passed away Sept. 23, 2013. Claude was one of ten children.
Claude retired from the United States Army after serving 26 years and moved to Florida after several years in the technical division of the Bank of New Hampshire.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara and three children; son, Richard (Leslee) and daughters, Carolyn Olsen and Renee Angel; stepdaughter, Julie (Dennis) Pulos; grandchildren, Maren Olsen, Ryan Bradford, Jamie and Matthew Duval, Samantha and Benjamin Angel; great grandchildren, Serenity Dykstra, Talon and Taylor Bradford; sisters-in-law, Margaret, Lorraine, Joanne and Caroline Duval and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Claude was preceded in death by his parents, Ovide and Rosilia; and siblings, Robert, Clement, Jean Pierre, Bernard, George, Francois, Jean Michel, Pierre and Pierrette.
He served in the Korean Occupation and two tours of duty in Vietnam, once as an Advisor and was assigned to the Quartermaster Division. He received several medals and commendations, including the Bronze Star during his Army career.
Claude retired to Florida in 1998 and currently resided at Terra Ceia Bay Golf and Tennis Club in Palmetto. He enjoyed traveling and sports and his interest in his family's genealogy. He was a member of the Canadian-American Genealogical Society of New Hampshire and a member of NAAS and the DAV.
Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, FL. A Celebration of Claude's Life will be held at a later date.
The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to TideWell Hospice of Ellenton, FL or to the Life Long Learning Academy at USF-SM, 8350 N. Tamiami Trl., Sarasota, FL 34243.
