What a legacy! What an awesome blessing! Mr. Francis was our neighbor on 40th Street since about 1952. He watched us grow up and helped grow us up. He was good friends with the Barber Family and our Aunt Hanner (his dance partner who left us at 93 years of age). He was there for us when we were being taught to ride a bike as he rode his bike. When my mother would visit him, he'd ask about all 8 of us by name. Still sharp at 111 years of age. You are a blessed family to have had him with you and we were blessed to have him in our lives. May God richly bless the family that took good care of Mr. Francis. You will be eternally blessed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

To the breaved Francis Family
It's been a pleasure knowing him. I've attended many functions and outside activities with him and enjoyed every occasion. He loved to have fun especially dancing. Whenever I visited CAL, he always knew and gave me a call. I had the pleasure of visiting with him in July, 2008. He will be deeply missed.

I am honored to say that i knew Mr. Francis! My great-grandmother Viola Cordier grew up with him in New Orleans, she also relocated to sacramento. Mr. Francis would frequently visit us at our home on Santa cruz way which was right around the corner from his home. He would make peach brandy for our grandmother and every time she prepared gumbo she made sure to send Georgie Francis a bowl!!! I also remember him being the grand marshall at the St Peter Claver's mardi gras dances!! what a blessing for your family to have such a wonderful man for a father, grandfather, great and great-great grandfather!

Really thankful to have had an opportunity to kiss Mr. George on the forehead and see him open one eye when John and I visited him hours before he passed. Briefly reflecting on the almost 60 years I knew him, I would sum up my impressions of him - family, music & fun, food, hardwork and fantastic memory. Those kept him going those 112 years!
As hard as this loss is for family and friends, know that he's now in a better place. Blessings to all of you.

My deepest condolence to the chrildren of George Francis. You all were blessed beyond measure to have your father for as long as God favored for him to be here. - I remember your family from the late 40's and early 50"s, from 42nd st. When I told my sister, she said she remembered riding in the car with him to a picnic when she was little. The life he led has made a great legacy for all of you. May God Bless all of you and keep you in His care during this trying time.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Tony Francis and his entire family. I can recall as a little girl visiting my grandparents, Edward and Mildred Brown, in Sacramento, when Mr. Francis would stop by at his young age of approx. 80 something years old and still riding a bicycle. At that time in my life I remember thinking, I want to be just like him, when I reach his age. I was truly saddened when I found out about his demise, however, I know for certain he is in a better place. Mr. Francis I know you will be missed!

It was truly a blessing to know George Francis ("Papa"). It was fun to see he and dad (Alvin Francis) around each other earlier in their lives. It was an inspiration just to be in his presence. He left a legacy for all to remember. He was always full of life. His life was and is a blessing to many. We all loved him but God loved him best. Our prayers and our condolences go out to all family members and friends.

To GOD be the Glory!!!!!! I am happy to know that you lived such a long, prosperous life and that GOD walked with you every step of the way. You climbed many moutnains and crossed many finshed lines and for that I must say that I am proud to know that a black man with such history existed. GOD bless your family and I pray that they keep your legacy living through them.

Mr. Francis lived a very full and satisfying life surrounded by many who loved and cared about him. I am sure you have many happy and fond memories to recall. Focus on those happy times you all shared together. Have faith in the promise Jehovah made at Psalms 37:29. It reads “The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.” His promise will without fail come true. What a glorious day we have to look forward to. I offer my sincere condolences to you all.

Wow! What a great milestone. My grandfather died in 1996 at age 95. He would often tell us stories when he rode along side Pancho Villa when he was about 14. We thought maybe he was just kidding us but we later found out it was so very true. People who live such a long time often have one of the most memorable times which inspire others with so many memories and stories. My grandfather was such a person. I very much enjoyed listening to him when he talked. May Mr Francis finally get some rest and may he be one of a kind to the rest of us. Great life Mr Francis, rest in peace.

Many friends and family welcomed him...at the entry gate, George was glad he'd arrived on time and not a minute late.

He comes each day to his shore side to see who's coming in, he plans to greet everyone especially next of kin.

So keep your site on heaven for your crossing day is near, you can reunite with George...whom you loved so dear.

To Mr. Francis' Family:

God bless you all; the blessing of Mr. Francis' life is evident for the world to see. I very much doubt that he would have imagined so many summers. He saw so much, endured so much, survived so much. I love the idea that he voted! He KNEW the value of the vote. He seems to have been an inspiration for all of us to be authentic and tuned in to our value to community. I am sorry that so many of us did not have the opportunity to have met him.

Love and Respect,

The former things have passed away.” I offer my sincere condolences to you all.

Uncle George always greeted me by saying, "Hi baby," and the next words were always, "How is Pam? Is she still in New York?" Uncle George was sharp--he always remembered me and my sisters. In fact he and Uncle Alvin (Alvin Francis) were one of the first to welcome us to Sacramento in 1970 when we moved here permanently from Los Angeles. From time to time Uncle Alvin would chauffeur Uncle George from place to place. I can hear Uncle George's voice saying, "Come on Alvin," as my grandmother (Lillian Parr) calls out, "See you Georgie." People had a tendency to ask him, "How are you Mr. Francis?" His reply was, "I'm fine--I'm as rich as Rochefeller." This is evident by his love for God and our family. To Tony, Veronia, Althea and Shirley and my many, many, many cousins, thank you for sharing Uncle George with me. He was blessed. More importantly, we were by his presence. Love, your cousin,
