
GARRELS, George T.
George was called home to Our Lord on Oct. 24, 2012. He was born on Sept. 23, 1927 in Long Beach, CA. During WWII he served in the U.S. Navy. In 1958, he moved to Sacramento and worked as a plumber for 45 years (Local 447). Among his many hobbies he bowled a perfect 300 game, enjoyed car restoration, crocheted afghans which he gave to many friends, and designed and built model railroads. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Dorothy Jeanne, and his sister, Marilyn Way. He is survived by his 3 children: Michael Garrels, Chris Sabin (Mark), and Gregory Garrels, his 5 grandchildren: Cat Bolt (Mike), Valerie Garrels, William Garrels, Jeannie Sabin, and Eric Sabin, 1 great grandson, Michael Bolt, and his sister, Joanne Maurer. A visitation will be held at Mt. Vernon Mortuary, 8201 Greenback Lane in Fair Oaks on Nov 1, from 4-7pm with a Vigil Service at 6pm. The funeral mass will be held on Nov 2 at 10:30 at St. Clare Catholic Church, 1950 Junction Blvd in Roseville with burial to follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park. Reception will follow the committal service in Morris Hall at St. Clare. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Clare Capital Campaign Fund.
