Born to Roger and Helen Williams on February 18, 1924, in Cameron, MO, Geraldine "Gerry" passed at the age of 90 on August 10, 2014. She attended the University of Missouri in Columbia before moving to California in 1952 with her husband, Edwin W. Smith, who predeceased her in 1965. While raising their two young daughters in Sacramento, she worked for the Human Rights Commission and various accounting firms. Gerry was married to Charles L. Coleman from 1971 until his passing in 1991. She was an active member of St. Marks Methodist Church, and later St. John's Lutheran Church, both in Sacramento. As a long-time member of the West Sacramento Moose Lodge #1431, she served as Senior Regent for the Women of the Moose from 1988-1989. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, a lover of cats, supporter of the SPCA, and a human rights advocate. Gerry is survived by her daughters Julie Smith Hochrein (Peter Hochrein) and Krista Smith Fregoso, and her granddaughters, Lisa Hochrein (Cambrian Liu), Michelle Hochrein, Heather Hochrein, and Rachel Fregoso. Gerry's family would like to thank the staff of Windsor Elk Grove Care and Rehabilitation for their loving care and support during the last years of her life. The family will have a private service.
