Hugh J. Dorning Jr, 72, of Foresthill, passed away on January 9, 2014 at home in Foresthill surrounded by loving family and friends. He was born in Pittsburgh PA, August 7, 1941. Graduating from Bethel Park High School he attended Stubbinville College before joining the US Air Force in February 1962. Stationed at McClellan AFB he left the Air Force to become a civilian employee at McClellan where he completed his degree in Business Administration at Sacramento State and retired after 38 years as the Section Chief for Ground Communications. Hugh was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved hunting with his children and friends. He was an active member and officer of the Federal Managers Association during his years at McClellan and met his wife and dearest friend, Carol while attending an FMA Conference in Washington DC. He enjoyed working on vintage cars with his friend John, visiting, traveling and fellowshipping with his next door neighbors, traveling especially to Montana to visit dear friends, sharing his faith with others and he delighted in his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Carol Dorning of 20 years, his son Hugh J. Dorning III (Jill), daughter Kristina Thran (Emery), stepsons Jeffrey Price (Holly), and Jonathan Roddey. Four brothers and sisters, Patricia Dorning Luvara (Fred), Richard J (Linda), Robert L (Amy) and Betsi Dorning Drapela (Dave)Ten grandchildren, Brandon White, Mason Dodson, Tyler Dorning, Dylan Thran, Sarah Thran, Valerie Price, Alanna Price, Griffin Price, Evelyn Price and numerous loving extended family members. A celebration of Hugh's life and faith will take place at the Canyon View Assembly of God, 23221 Foresthill Rd, Foresthill CA on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2:00.
