Janet, 78, passed away peacefully at her home on January 28. The daughter of John and Bernice Shintaffer, Janet was born in Mt Vernon, WA. She grew up in the Seattle, WA area and graduated from Twin Cities High School, Lynnwood, WA as the valedictorian. She studied at University of Washington before moving to California.

In 1960 Janet met and married George Darrah and they had 2 children together, John and David Darrah.

Throughout her years, Janet performed a variety of roles in her children's activities, professional career, being an advocate for Seniors, and even owned her own deli in Carnelian Bay, North Lake Tahoe.

In later years, Janet married Dean Greenwood. These two shared their love of books, dogs, and movies. They had a wonderful life together. They enjoyed traveling, numerous road trips, and spending time with friends.

Janet was a kind, gentle person with a passion for reading, writing short stories and poetry, and an extreme love for her books. She loved animals and children and enjoyed her free time volunteering at her local library.

Janet is survived by her 2 sons, John Darrah of Pleasanton, David Darrah of Placerville, 3 grandchildren; Jennifer, Jarrett, and Payton, and her dog Raider.

No services will be held. Her ashes will be scattered privately in her favorite places by her family, per her request.
